2008 Dr. Loosen "Dr. L" Mosel Riesling $8.95

Color:  Light gold

Nose:  Grapefruit, slate

Taste:  Strong acidity present with grapefruit and slate dominating

Finish:  Refreshing, simple wine but a steal at $9

Evaluation:  88 points

2007 Newton Claret - USA, California, Napa Valley $15.99
Great QPR wine. Cherry, plum, spice and oak on the nose. The palate reveals a fruit forward style wine with cherry, plum and blackberries. Add a little spice and mild oak on the finish and we have a winner for $15. (90 pts.)

BOGO WINES

The price shown is the price per bottle must buy two.

2007 Orogeny Pinot Noir Green Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Green Valley (4/6/2010) $22
Classic California Pinot with spices, strawberry and floral on the nose. A perfume quality is evident on the nose and more so on the palate. Medium finish and drinking well right now. At $21 a bottle a most have for an everyday Pinot. (90 pts.)

2003 Valandraud 3 de Valandraud - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (8/12/2010) $25
Medium purple. This wine was decanted for 2 hours prior. Wonderful nose of red fruits, spice, perfume and gravel. On the palate it is showing spices, gravel, cherry, and leather. Good acidity and structure to the this wine. A nice 2nd label from Valandraud. (91 pts.)

2006 Alma Rosa Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (8/12/2010) $17.50
Light purple. Nose is vibrant with ripe fruit, straw, floral and minerals. On the fruits revealed are blackberries, strawberries and raspberries. This is a bigger style of Pinot that will please a fan of Shiraz or US Cab. The minerals and floral notes are intense and it has a medium finish. (90 pts.)

2005 Nicolas Potel Savigny-lès-Beaune - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune (8/12/2010) $27.50
A nice wine overall with strawberry, minerals, floral and less tannins than last time sampling it 2 years ago. Medium finish and drink now. (90 pts.)

2001 Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Quet - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (8/12/2010) $40
I sampled this wine 3 years ago and it is opened up for business. Aromas of stones, blackberries, raspberries, earth floral notes. On the palate it features stones, blackberries, cherry, floral and leather. Medium and concentrated on the finish. This has a lot of life left but is drinking well right now. (93 pts.)

2002 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (8/12/2010) $20
Light gold. Nose of floral, honey, minerals and peaches. The wine is perfectly balanced with the combo of sweet and sour. The flavors of honey, minerals, peach and pear are amazing and the finish is really long adding a butter scotch element. Drink now or hold for 5 years. (93 pts.)

2007 Michel Gassier Syrah Les Piliers - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Costières-de-Nîmes (8/14/2010) $13.47
Too much funk on the nose with coffee, minerals and cherry. Not the Syrah I enjoy compared to a good Crozes. (85 pts.)

2008 Rubus Zinfandel Old Vine - USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi (8/14/2010) $15.97
Smoke, blackberries, dried herbs and floral notes dominate this wine. Big finish and no heat on this wine. Well made. (91 pts.)

2006 Azienda Agricola Taurino Salice Salentino - Italy, Puglia, Salice Salentino (8/14/2010) $7.97
A great value red with minerals, raspberries and floral. Medium finish. (88 pts.)

2008 Santa di Terrossa - Italy (8/14/2010) $9.97
Nice and clean with tropical fruit, honey and lemons. Good acidity. (87 pts.)

2008 Fairhills Chardonnay - South Africa, Western Cape (8/14/2010) $5.47
Pear, spice and apple dominate this wine. It says on the back oak and vanilla which I got some vanilla but the oak is very subtle. Nice value Chardonnay. (87 pts.)

2008 Saladini Pilastri Rosso Piceno - Italy, Marche, Rosso Piceno (8/14/2010) $6.97
A solid wine wiht coffee, raspberries, minerals, and floral notes. For $7 a great value. (88 pts.)

2008 Apothic Winemaker's Blend - USA, California (8/14/2010) $8.97
Perfect for the sweet tooth with cherry and blackberries. Soft tannins. (80 pts.)

2008 Fattoria Nicodemi Trebbiano d'Abruzzo - Italy, Abruzzi, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo (8/14/2010) $12.97
A really nice example of Trebbiano's potential with floral, orange peel, minerals with a medium finish. Good acidity. (90 pts.)

2009 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/14/2010) $32
Grass! On the palate a touch of sweetness with floral, grass, and minerals. Nothing amazing and for $32 a bottle I am not a buyer. (90-91 pts.)
