Color:  Yellowish hue

Nose:  Pear

Taste:  Not acidic, light butter with citrus notes

Finish:  Medium finish with refreshing fruit flavors

Evaluation:  A great sipper on a hot day or enjoy with seafood.  87 points

2006 Bodega Benegas Mendoza Chardonnay $$

Color:  Medium yellow

Nose:  Spice, floral, mineral

Taste:  Crisp acidity with spice, floral, minerals

Finish:  Medium and complete

Evaluation:  Solid Chardonnay from Argentina 87 points

2007 Solemne Torrontes Mendaza

Color:  Light

Nose:  Floral, spice, peach

Taste:  Peach, floral, spices

Finish:  Medium and refreshing

Evaluation:  Simple but good  85 points

AUSTRIA

2006 Weingut Schloss Gobelsburg "Grub" Gruner Veltliner $$$

Color:  Light gold
Nose: Mineral, peach, lemon, white pepper

Taste:  Rich, mineral, lemon, white pepper, apples

Finish:  Intense and complex wine with a medium finish

Evaluation:  If you like Pinot Grigio give this a try 91 points

 

CHILE

 

2005 Concha y Toro Pirque Marques de Casa Concha $$

Color:  Medium yellow

Nose:  Oak, mineral, pear, apple

Taste:  Balanced wine with apple, pear, mineral, oak

Finish: Medium with solid characters

Evaluation:  A solid wine that is a great intro to good Chardonnay 88 points

2007 Veramonte Reserva Casablanca Valley Sauvignon Blanc $

Color:  Light gold

Nose:  Grapefruit! 

Taste:  Grapefruit, mineral

Finish:  Medium with grapefruit and mineral

Evaluation:  A wine that is well worth the price.  A nice summer wine.  85 points

Color:  Clear

Nose:  Mineral

Taste:  Mineral, floral

Finish:  Short

Evaluation:  One dimensional 80 points
