Wineglas Brings Sheridan Vineyards and Meek Family Estates to Minnesota

John Glas of Wineglas is the most important wine critic in Minnesota.  No one benefits the wine consumers like John as he does not sell wine for a living.  This past Spring John was able to bring in 2 exciting wineries from Washington State. 

 

Sheridan Vineyards

Sheridan Vineyards is owned by Scott Greer and he is one of the most respected wine makers in Washington State.  As a self taught wine maker he has quickly figure out how to take world class fruit from Washington State and create amazing wines for the money.

 

2006 Sheridan Vineyard Kamiakin White Wine (Sauvignon Blanc & Semilion) $$

Color:  Light gold

Nose:  Floral, mineral

Taste:  Floral, peach, mineral and multi layered

Finish:  Medium and nice acidity

Evaluation:  A great, dry White Bordeaux Style wine for a little bit of money 88 points

2006 Sheridan Vineyard Kamiakin Red (Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc) $$

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Cinnamon, plum, cherry

Taste:  Spice, forest floor, cinnamon, oak

Finish:  Medium and multi layered with plum, cherries, oak, and spice

Evaluation:  Solid red Bordeaux style wine 87 points

2005 Sheridan Vineyards Yakima Valley Syrah $$$

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Plum, cherries, truffles

Taste:  Wow!  Plum, cherries, truffles, spices, violets

Finish:  Medium and complex wine with smooth tannins

Evaluation:  A knockout Syrah from Washington 92 points

2005 Sheridan L'Orage Yakima Valley (Cabernet, Merlot) $$$$

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Plum, pepper

Taste:  Cherry, plum, coffee, spice

Finish:  Strong and long with good structure

Evaluation:  Cellar this wine and enjoy in five years 93 points

2004 Meek Family Estates WJ Red (Merlot, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc)

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Mushrooms, plum

Taste:  Truffles, spice, little oak, cinnamon

Finish:  Medium tannins and flavorful

Evaluation:  Solid everyday wine for under $15 88 points

2004 Meek Family Estates WJ Syrah $$

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Cherries, spice

Taste:  Cherries, oak, floral

Finish:  Medium and full of flavors

Evaluation:  Nice solid wine 89 points

2005 Meek Family Inherit (Merlot, Cabernet, Malbec)

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Plum, cherry, spice

Taste:  Blackberries, plum, oak, spice

Finish:  Long and intense

Evaluation:  92 points

2004 Meek Family Petite Verdot

Color:  Dark purple

Nose:  Blackberries, spice, violets

Taste:  Spice, violets, blackberries, coffee with bit

Finish:  Medium to long with great flavors

Evaluation:  What a great wine for the variety 91 points
