Everyday wine

2006 Las Rocas de San Alejandro Calatayud Garnacha $

Color:  Medium purple

Nose:  Violets, cranberries, spice

Taste:  Spicy with nice acidity and sour tastes

Finish:  Medium and flavorful

Evaluation:  This is one of the best everyday wines from Spain 87 points

2004 Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Rhone $$

Color:  Medium purple

Nose:  Pepper, spice, floral

Taste:  Good intensity with earth, spice, floral, and pepper

Finish:  Medium

Evaluation:  Good everyday wine 85 points

Mid Level

2002 Kaesler Avignon Barossa Valley $$$

Blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mouvedre, and Viognier

Color:  Medium purple

Nose: Spice, plum, oak, smoke

Taste:  Sweetness from the Viognier, and also has bitter and sour so all taste buds are working. Spice, oak, vanilla

Finish:  Medium spice with oak, vanilla, sweet fruits

Evaluation:  Hits 3 taste buds which is very rare.  90 points

2005 Clos des Brusquieres Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rhone $$$

Color:  Light purple

Nose:  Spice, mineral, cranberries

Taste:  Light wine with mineral, floral and mild spices

Finish:  Short to medium with good acidity

Evaulation:  A starter CDP 87 points

2002 Joesph Phelps Le Mistal Monterey County $$

Color:  Medium purple

Nose:  Pepper, strawberries, spice

Taste:  Well integrated blend of fruits and earth components

Finish:  Smooth wine and medium finish

Evaluation:  Drinking well now 89 points

High Level

2002 Clarendon Hills Clarendon Hills Vineyard Grenache $$$$

Color:  Dark purple

Nose: Raspberry, blackberries, pepper

Taste:  Sweet fruits, eucalyptus, violets, pepper

Finish:  Sweet fruits, pepper, eucalyptus, violets on this mutli layered medium finish

Evaluation:  Solid wine 92 points

2005 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe La Crau Chateaneuf du Pape $$$$

Color:  Medium purple

Nose:  Much better then in December with cherry, floral, spice

Taste:  Spice, floral, mineral, cherry, raspberry, not over powering

Finish:  Medium without much heat.  It certainly is not a massive CDP

Evaluation:  Showed better then December but I don't see this as ever being a blockbuster wine 91 points

2005 Chateau Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape $$$$$

Color:  Medium purple

Nose:  Wow cherry, smoke, very clean without funk

Taste:  Smooth tannins with cherry, smoke, licorice, figs

Finish:  Really nice and drinking well right now

Evaluation:  Not an overpowering wine and everything was in perfect harmony 94 points
